Looking for a job?

A new Namibian recruitment website was launched on the 15th of September 2009. The website is called namrecruit.com and promises to revolutionise the way that recruitment is done in Namibia. Recruitment websites are not a new phenomenon as over a 100 000 such websites currently exist on the internet.

The overall majority of these websites are however specialised in that it only caters for certain companies, industries or positions. namrecruit.com is unique though as it caters for any organisation and type of job seeker whether it is a temporary, permanent, job attachment or part time vacancy/job seeker.

Provision is also made for bur- sary seekers and the placement of bursary ads by employers. Other unique functions for employers include: automated ad creation, system short listing, intercompany ad distribution, automated regret function, automated database searches for immediately available/unemployed job seekers, talent data- base creation and automated applicant reports which can be used to substantiate appointments. namrecruit.com also accepts recruitment assignments whereupon recruitment is done on behalf of the client.

Mr Jaco van Zyl, proprietor of the website, said in an interview with the newspaper that the goal of the website is to serve as a gateway where many employers and job seekers can meet. The website was created over a period of 12 months and was built exclusively to accommodate the needs of the Namibian labour market although the functionality can accommodate international recruitment as well.

Van Zyl continued by saying that the site will increase the speed of filling vacancies whilst at the same time ensuring optimum job fit at a reduced expense to the employer. Employers will also benefit by having access to Namibians abroad as job ads can be viewed from anywhere in the world. Associated fees for employers are reasonable and based on the number of candidates shortlisted and not the number of vacancy ads placed on the website.

The entry registration for employers, however, provides for free func- tionality pertaining to unlimited ad postings on the website, but limited to one short listing per month. It is ideal for employers to test whether the functionality adds value to their business.

Van Zyl said that any category of job seeker is benefited in a number of ways such as the automated generation of a professional CV which can be printed or downloaded, setting parameters for future job re- quirements and receiving e-mail alerts when selected positions are advertised.

Full functionality for job seekers is for free subject to registration on the website. Job seekers will use an e-mail address and unique password to access their account except unskilled and semi-skilled job seekers who will be able to access their account by entering a cell phone number and unique password.

This functionality was specifically set up to accommodate job seekers who do not have regular access to the internet. Job see- kers who do not have regular access to the internet may re- quest namrecruit.com to register their resume on their behalf by contacting namrecruit.com and requesting this service. It is important to note that several precautionary measures were taken to ensure the confidentially of job seekers.

Mr Van Zyl concluded by saying that they are currently working on the functionality of sending job alerts via sms to job seekers if such option is selected by the job seeker.

The cost of such sms alerts will be sponsored and not to any expense of the job seeker. namrecruit.com is a partner site of namhr.com, a people management assistance website aimed at assisting employers with their people management processes and queries. namrecruit.com can be visited at www.namrecruit.com or contacted at 085 588 7516 or via e-mail at [email protected].
