10.03.2010 E-Med Rescue 24, Westair Aviation celebrate new partnership![]() The team of Westair Aviation.
NAMIBIA’s number one emergency rescue service, E-Med Rescue 24 and aviation giant Westair, recently hosted a cocktail function for invited guests at the Eros airport.
The function was held to celebrate the new smart partnership agreement between the Prosperity Group subsidiary E-Med Rescue 24 and Westair Aviation for operational and maintenance support on the three E-Med air ambulance aircraft. This partnership will not only boost the delivery of emergency air evacuation services in Namibia but will also improve the safety standards. According to Eddie Bezuidenhout, General Manager, E-Med Rescue 24, this mutually beneficial partnership between the two organizations is an improvement in safety standards while at the same time allowing the companies to focus on their core business. Bezuidenhout, in his presentation, talked about the service delivery of his company which includes a 24 hour emergency call centre, ground and air ambulances, first aid training as well as related products such as Rescue Me and Voyager. He also quoted statistics and embarked on details of the various aircraft that are used for emergency flights. Westair Aviation’s CEO Wolfgang Grellmann, mentioned in his address that changes in flight operations, especially the ones involving safety and maintenance and the large number of evacuation flights, have contributed towards the signing of the partnership agreement. “We are the largest aviation company in Namibia and it is our pleasure and duty to focus on operational requirements of the crew as well as the aircraft operation and maintenance.” In order to deliver superior service at all times, Westair aviation conducts thorough training of their pilots including regular route checks, bi-annual proficiency checks; medical fitness; technical refresher training; emergency equipment training; simulator sessions; cockpit resource management and dangerous goods training. The company has a pool of 11 experienced and qualified pilots with significant night flying experience. Grellmann adds: “When done correctly, night operations do not carry significantly more risk than daylight operations. Operations are only into lighted airstrips and if runway reflectors are used, then DCA approved procedures are complied with. Pilot time on duty schedules are carefully managed in order to prevent fatigue and all air ambulance and medi-vac procedures are based on internationally accepted standards.” Westair Wings Charters is the operator of the E-MED Rescue 24 aircraft while Westair Maintenance repairs and maintains those aircraft. Local maintenance is fast, efficient and also more cost effective. |
