Bank welcomes its new trainees

The new participants in Bank Windhoek’s Candidate Bankers Training programme for 2012 are (back row, from left) Martin van Staden, Betuel Kaenandjamo, Rusuvero Tjihoreka, Jackie le Roux, Esmedean Josea, Florencia Beukes, Marizaan Boshoff and Devano Beukes. Seated is Bank Windhoek’s executive management team, from left Anton Smit, Chris Matthee, Marlize Horn, Christo de Vries (MD), Elize Fahl, Jakes van Rensburg and Fillimon Ngairo.

BANK Windhoek last week welcomed this year’s participants of the Candidate Bankers Training programme (CBT). The programme was first launched 16 years ago and more than 500 students have graduated since 1996.

This training programme is the only one of this nature and affords Bank Windhoek to be self sufficient in sourcing talented and skilled employees. Furthermore, this initiative provides school leavers with an opportunity to pursue an exciting career in banking and to play an active role in creating job opportunities for young Namibians within the banking industry.

Two CBT courses are run per year with 19 candidates graduating last year.

“The positive impact of the programme in the bank is evident from the exceptional results of the branches that have taken some of the previous successful candidates on board. Today, we have many successful CBT graduates in branches and departments across the country that are playing their part in growing our business and providing service to our clients,” said Christo de Vries, Bank Windhoek’s Managing Director.

Elize Fahl, Executive Officer: Group Human Resources at Bank Windhoek, added: “The development of knowledge and skills plays a vital role in our overall business strategy. It ensures that our employees have sufficient training and abilities to meet the challenge of growing the business and providing quality service to our clients. I am therefore greatly honoured and privileged to welcome the first group of Candidate Banker Trainees for 2012 to Bank Windhoek.”
